I really like RTI products and what they allow me to do but why in the hell did they feel the need to create the Pro Control line... Oh it's about the cash flow! I understand your premise was to offer a cost affective alternative to the primary line but all you did was enable the dumb asses to get into our industry and make us look like idiots!. I make money by following up on stupid installations but this is not my business model, I thought as an Industry with CEDIA we were working towards standards. But with this cheap product line and distributers selling to whom ever is actually undermining the hard work CEDIA is doing! C'Mon lets get back to the standards and tighten up the product lines with true dealer pre-requisites.
I state this because I just was asked by a contractor to look at this job. Oh my gosh! It was the worst f'ked up install I had ever seen. Will someone please tell electricians to stick with high voltage and stay out of LV supply houses! Unless they are willing to get educated... pre-madonna a-holes! Learn how to use a broom!
Thats all for now!, Cheers! LT

I understand your pain, but do you really think that if ProControl went away you would only see properly completed jobs? ProControl is only few years old but fu*ked up jobs have been going on for as long as houses have been build.

Q: What's another term for a diva back in 1980?
A: A pre-Madonna prima donna.
Learn how to use a broom? THAT's what's bothering you, bucko?

RTI is sold through distribution, so technically any joe shmoe could get their hands on it. I've seen just as many bad RTI jobs as I have anything else. The product doesn't dictate the quality of the installation. The level of expertise, pride, and knowledge do.

Just a rant dudes don't go trashing me if you don't get it... gheez Rants, like stereotypes, always have a basis in facts. Other peoples' opinions are not trashing, so gheez to you, too. Are you saying, for instance regarding Pro Control, that if you're on a rant and someone here thinks that you're uninformed or misinformed, or complaining about something that is not the actual problem, you'd prefer to remain ignorant?

Some of the worse installs I've ever seen were from a large crestron dealer and a high-end savant dealer. The product has nothing to do with it. It's the quality of the installation and the programming.

Thats all for now!, Cheers! LT How did someone f*** up a Pro Control System so bad that your hating your job right now? Lol, if it's programming then all you do is re-program & charge your time. Granted you didn't make any money from selling product but come on. Pro isn't bad at all. It's a great control system for budget type installs. If someone didn't program it correctly then ya it would suck, but re-program it. I've had to fix numerous jobs in the past. Wether it's URC, RTI, or Crestron. It's all in the programming. As long as each TV has a Cat5 you shouldn't have any problems making money & having a happy customer. Just my 2cents

Just a rant dudes don't go trashing me if you don't get it... gheez I hear ya, loud and clear. Working on a house now, with an electrician who has no freaking clue about LV. I drilled a hole in the floor, inside of a wall and put a pull cord in for MY cables and when I came up here last week, I saw that he used it for his freaking Romex. The fact that enough cabling needed to be added that it was no longer big enough is beside the point. He then ran a coax and Cat5e for me. Went through 6-8 I-joists in the same holes as a bunch of Romex, too. What a guy. The definitely need to learn how to clean up after themselves, too.

Electricians here are great at pushing brooms. In fact, on rough-ins, they even sweep up ourmess if we are in and out before they get to that part. :)
