I'm renovating my house and have gutted it down to studs. I'm replacing all electrical and lighting.

I want to add color led lighting. Anyone used or controlled Phillips Kinetics?

What's else is out there for ceiling cans/bulbs/control?

Plenty of options out there. I find the Philips to be rather expensive and I believe it's proprietary.

Do you have a control system involved? Check out DMX and google rgb recessed lighting.

Philips Color Kinetics covers a broad range of products, each having different control requirements. The most common multicolor selection is the iColor Cove QLX, but I wouldn't want to hazard a guess as to which product you are considering.

For example, iColor Cove QLX can be operated from Philips control products (iPlayer) or 3rd party DMX controllers.

Philips Hue is a LED replacement lamp for traditional fixtures that has a wireless control function.

Is this a product that will blow you away for a month, then you will never adjust after that? A friend put Color Kinetics in his home theater and integrated a pretty damn good sunset program into the beginning of movie viewing. How will you use the color?

On a range of 0 to 100, what is the SAF (WAF) of changing the colors? Have you discussed this enough to be called nuts yet?

True story: a friend who installs color LEDs once did a strip club. Asked the owner how he wanted them programmed. Client said "have them run through all the colors." Installer argued that was a baaaaad idea... Client was firm. Installer took payment and left. Installer got a call about ten minutes later. Client needed Service Call. $$ involved. Needed LEDs programmed differently. Said "you cannot believe how bad green LEDs make bullet scars look on black skin."
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Assuming the stated commonality of male color-blindness is accurate, I don't think this will go well. "It looks fine, to me" will be met with rolling eyes, laughter, yelling, snickering kids and people talking behind his back.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

I have been doing mostly URC. Have looked at google search but all names are unknown to me. Hoped to glean some residential experience from someone here.

I have the opportunity to build a cool smart home - standard lighting seems bland to me. Would be interested in changing color - even if it is just highlight cans on wall or wall-painting.

I'm contacting a friend in Florida to see if he'll consult with you.

I'd be interested in this as well for exterior lighting. Trusses just went up on our bar expansion and RGB could probably be used to good effect for my exterior lighting.

I use ALOT Of scenes in my home. I would love to have color and dont think it would be something i would tire of in a week. Im looking forward to figuring out what i need to make it happen.

Lighting changes everything in a room, IMO. So color can only add, if done right.

Thanks.

I'm familiar with DMX for stage lighting. DMX is a great way to go but I've only seen it used in par cans on trusses. I'll check out Grafik eye

What will not work?
A Grafik eye QS wireless does integrate with RA2. I use it everyday in my kitchen?
A Grafik eye QS wireless can also be ordered with up to 3 Integration devices which includes the following (QSE-IO), (QSE -NMK-E) and (QSE-CI-DMX).
