I used to have all that pioneer gear with a pair of ESS AMT-1Ds
With the Heil Air-motion transformer
Drinking upstream from the herd since 1960

I repaired all of that gear in the 70's, 80's, & 90's.

It's not much high end, mostly mid-fi. Pretty cool though. Buy the lot and have a five year job selling on eBay.

That listing for $500 on a PL200 is off the wall. Low end piece.

pl200 is, indeed, a tad overpriced for what it is.

Used to sell the Advent 300 vs. the Pioneer 185 watt receiver all the time....

How does someone, even in retail way back when, end up with that much inventory? Then just let it sit for a couple of decades.

Not like those brands are going to increase in value.

Yeah, but I loved the sound of the advent phono stage, and when a/b'ed I sold a number of them. If they wanted more power, we'd yank the preamp out/main amp in jumpers and stick something high current on the circuit.

No way that guy was making any money. That video just shows he was going out of business on the installment plan.

That makes more sense. Tough to compare 15 watts/ch with 185 per.

We didn't see a ton of Advents for service - more for scratchy volume controls or tape monitor switches; few for electronic failures.

The Advent had its phono preamp stage designed by Tomlinson Holman, of THX fame.

TOns of overpriced stuff. Very few treasures in the walk through.

I'd say more like tons of outdated, unwanted landfill there. Why would someone get excited about a 20 year old new in box Pioneer or JVC piece of electronics.
Nostalgic maybe, but, unless the price is super cheap, is anyone really going to take a chance on spending good money on this stuff?

My "WOW" comment was more about the amount of NOS stock as opposed to the quality of it.

I still have an Adevnt 300. Need to get the pots cleaned up. Still looks and sounds great though!
