I have an install that would normally use 2 outside dual voice coil speakers and am wondering if we are not better off setting the amp to mono and using 2 regular speakers.

Why Mono? is it wired with 4 conductor to the speaker location? How far apart are they? are they separate zones?

They are in 2 separate areas of the yard so i can't use stereo. We haven't wired it yet so we can run 2 or 4 conductor. We will be using a Sonos Connect with aux amp. Is there a small amp that converts stereo to mono?

With mono you can run more speakers on the amp and get more coverage

Because there's no reason to run it stereo unless there's a dedicated listening area where stereo is needed. DA is about Distribution, not stereo image.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."
