Why are you guys so rabid about doing a search for previously requested info? JUST START A NEW THREAD - If it's the same question? who cares, at least it's a current inquiry.

In other words, stop digging up old threads.

Lighten up, Francis.

Why don't the mods lock old threads? That would be an easy way to solve YOUR problem.

I set a reminder on my phone. So I'll send you a message to post to this thread in 2022.

One of my first posts on here was about am radio reception. I got the "wrath of Ernie" because I didn't search for an older post with all the answers. That was before I realized what a great help he was. ;)

As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing particularly wrong with finding an older post IF you have a very similar question or issue. There's nothing wrong with adding new, relevant information to an older thread when it is found to be the most appropriate location. Google often pulls those threads to the top of searches, so keeping information on certain subjects together makes sense.

The problem comes with actually going and answering an ancient thread as if the original poster is still searching and waiting for that information. Or providing your incidental thoughts on a subject long since retired, as if it were still current conversation. Or, adding old information when there are already current threads containing it.

tl;dr - If you're absolutely sure it's the best place, add on to a thread. But if there's any doubt, just start a new thread and perhaps link to the old one.

Daniel, I just wanted to thank you for keeping RC for as long as you have. You are doing a great job at it. I am on another forum, pertaining to a luxury car brand, since 2009ish. Just last year it was sold to a company that over sees a ton of other car forums, well it's gone down hill from there unfortunately.

However, it would seem like you've kept ownership or at least the control.

Great job my friend. ^5.

You know that SOMEONE has been waiting for THE answer for the last 10 years.....

It's our job to keep them in limbo land until we're ready to enlighten them with our vast knowledge....

A good example?

I'm still waiting for Wesley to let me know THE ONLY way to do things....

Change this to "We're gonna sit here and drink beer until someone answers this question"-
