What program or template do you use to detail pay for employees. I have tried to find excel templates, but can't really find anything that will work for sales people who are paid a certain amount for certain items. I have looked in to the quickbooks but my sales team is 1099 and we don't need taxes and I won't pay them through quickbooks. I am looking for a template that I will include with the pay checks, and I don't have to build everyweek. I can just enter the data. Any ideas?

Why not use a payroll service? They are very reasonable in terms of cost.

I agree with Jonathan. We use Paychex. Our rep is GREAT and responds immediately to any questions we have. They have some other resources available as well. It really has taken some of the stresses out of the job and they keep track of everything and prepare all employee related forms required to send to the state, be it taxes or whatever.

One of our banks (BoA for this purpose) handles everything, all we do is submit the hours. Direct deposit into their accounts the evening before payday. Tracks vacation days and PTO earned per pay period. Handles all of the tax deductions, tax payments, unique witholdings from other State's claims from baby mamma's and other bullshit you really shouldn't be concerned with.

I looked into quickbooks ($25/month) and for (2) 1099 sales people seems like a lot just to give them the detail of who they were paid on. What does paychex run?

Ours is $99/month and $2/employee. I don't know if you consider that steep but they handle everything. Worth every penny IMO.

I understand, and if I had 15-20 employees that would make sense. But I have one full time and one part time sales rep for our Directv side. They are a 1099, I don't take taxes, workers comp, unemployment....... They write 5-10 orders per week. I think I will just build an excel file to keep track of their year, which really needs to just add the next week to it. I am looking to detail what customers they got paid on and for what service they sold that customer

FYI 1099 is not payroll. It's an expense. Just being accurate

Ed will be known as the Tiger Woods of the integration business, followed closely with the renaming of his company to "Hotties A/V". The tag line will be "We like big racks and tight holes"... |

We use ADP and has been much easier to deal with than trying to do on our own.

Remember your time is way more valuable than the $50-$100 dollars a month you are trying to avoid. Don't think save money think make more.
Businesses that cut expenses are focusing on the wrong thing. Now I am a super cheap person. I save money to a fault.
If it costs you $50 dollars month to manage this cost look for a way to make $100 in the same time. Having those guys call one past client a week would make you way more than you are losing.
Just my two cents as I am analyzing my costs and sales right now.
