Hi,

We have been asked to supply some wireless headphones that would be suitable for use whilst exercising, i.e. running machine, rower, static cycle, etc.

Client has setup a gym area in an open plan room, and doesn't want to disturb people in other parts of the room whilst exercising.

We have a full Crestron DA solution installed so switching a line level source out dedicated to the headphones is not a problem. Also we have Cat5 links to the area so that we could transmit the audio to a local sender over a TP cable with the appropriate Baluns.

Normally we would just put in a pair of senheisser's or similar, but these don't really suit wearing for gym use.

Ideally a pair of in-ear buds, possibly with a wireless receiver that could be strapped to the arm a-la-iPod.

Anyone know of anything suitable?

TIA

Nick
What do you mean you wanted it on the other wall - couldn't you have mentioned this when we prewired?

In ear are not suitable to be "shared" with other users. Do you want to stick earbuds with someone else's earwax on them, in your ear?

You need something that is going to stand up to use. Either you supply a receiver with a standard stereo jack, or supply headphones with pads that can be wiped down with disinfectant.

I get that, although to be fair it is only him and his wife in the property, and in any case I would assume that the buds would plug into the wearable receiver so they could have his'n'her buds....in fact we could supply two TX/RX units so they have a kit each.

However this still doesn't give me any clue as to what might be available.....

I use the Jaybird series for gym use. Water resistant, comfy and don't fall out of your ears. But I don't have the integration problem that you have. Just my .02

manufacturers make Bluetooth or RF phones and even in-ear types, with a thin headband that has a reflector in the middle (I assume it's for people who run, walk or bike, although I'm no longer going to be using headphones or ear buds when I ride because of the guy who was punched in the head where I was riding last week.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

+1 for Jaybird, seem to suit the job well. One we did plugs into the front headphone jack of a small Denon amp with Sonos as the source. Plug in the wireless receiver to use headphones, unplug to use ceiling speakers.

Remembering to turn the headphones off or plug them in to charge seems to be the only issue..
