Guys, do you recommend something you used with success? The house has full crestron, we are installing the new touch panels with Rava ( SIP ) for internal communication of the house. I wonder if there is a gate intercom system ( weather proof of course ) to be mounted outside. My idea is to show the intercom camera on the crestron displays ( either via a composite video out of the intercom into a crestron NVS-200 or some kind of intercom that streams a compatible video stream for the touch panels ) and also 2 way audio via sip, rava, or any other kind of crestron friendly audio protocol. is there such thing???

Most gate systems output audio as part of a POTS line and if there is CCTV is a basic analog camera. Opening gate is typically by relays. The biggest issue may be digitalizing the analog line from the gate, but Crestron does have door phone interface that may work here. I've not used it and I'd recommend testing it in house before attempting the installation as my experience is that there are always issues.

For example, the video string in the NVS-200 setup screen will work on an iPad but not the TSW panels. Interfacing this 3rd party doorphone may not be as transparent as it might first appear.

You may need worry about surges unless you're using fiber to carry these analog signals. It's never as easy transcoding signals as it is made to seem. If you've not done RAVA before it can be a ton of fun as well. I'd mock it up in house before attempting it in the field.

Techsquad,

You should really be a member of the Yahoo Crestron group.  This topic has come up a fair amount, and there are a bunch of ways to get it done.  The Holovision/Axis solution is very popular, but gets pretty pricy.  I'm currently ironing the kinks out of a Mobotix solution that should be pretty slick once its done.  Mobotix has a doorstation and gate interface that should do exactly what you are looking for as long as you don't need to throw the image up onto the TVs.

Easton Altree,

I'd love to know more about what you're doing with Mobotix, we're just looking into it for the first time now - what kinks are there to work out that we don't know about?
