I have a marantz dv8400 which has a DVI output but my tv only has component. Is there a cable that I could by that has DVI to Component?

Why don't you just use the component output?

I was wondering if I will get a better picture. It has been said that DVI is better than component. If you dont think there is a difference let me know.

DVI is digital, component is analog. So bascially, you're looking for a device (not just a cable) that will convert your digital signal back down to an analog signal. If the ends is an analog signal, why not just do like Mike suggested and use the component vids in the first place?

If it's a DVI-D signal with HDCP no device will legally exist to convert back to component for obvious reasons. If it's DVI-A, adaptors exist, as in the case of the Crestron DVP-4DI where the unit comes with such adaptors. Not being a Marrantz dealer I have no ideal if the DVI connectiion is analog or digital. I am certain that you could purchase the adaptor and see if it works or you could look at the owners manual or the menu settings and determine if the DVI connection is analog or digital. My understanding is that if the unit does not explicitly support HDCP it may very well be an anlog connection.

Thank You to all. I will use the component for now and use the DVI for when I get a DLP projector and scaler.
