The comments are great too...I especially like this one from Zarba...whole bunch of wrong from beginning all the way to the end!

"Zarba Writes...What an insult to Tucker!

Tucker built 51 examples. How many real cars has Tesla delivered?

Oh, and showroom display models with no internals don’t count…

And I hate to disagree with Chuck, but you can fix a Tucker; parts are available or can be fabricated. How do you “fabricate” the computers and operating systems that control the Tesla Roadster?

Something tells me that they’ll not be very forthcoming with source codes."

I guess the author should have compared Fisker to Tucker. His comparison would have been much more accurate.

Tesla though is still far from a success. If they stay a small boutique car company selling 6,000 cars a year, everything may be fine. But if they become a real contender with the big guys, the demand that will be put on our electrical grid is going to be a problem.

Tesla seems to be doing fine. Especailly when their new lower priced models come out...

There are tons of Teslas on the street around here...

Not sure why all those Trolls are beating up on Tesla... maybe it's a "Liberal" mobile?

Have any of you driven or rode in the Tesla? Fantastic cars.

Actually, there are only about 25,000 Teslas total on the roads.

But my comment isn't a criticism of tesla. It's a fact. More electric cars are going to put more demand on the electric grid. And it could easily happen faster than the electric companies can expand.

That is not correct, They had more than 25,000 model S Tesla's on the road in 2013. they delivered 6900 model S sedans in Q4 alone that's where that number came from.

Tesla has been building and selling about 1700 Model S sedans a month, so they have sold more than 11.000 in 2014 so far.

So if you include the discontinued sports car model the actual total is around 40.000 cars world wide so far

Ah, that's the numbers I saw in an article I read one night. I thought the 25,000 was a total and the 6900 was an annual number. My bad for reading while drunk

Yep, in our area, we've got all these Amazon, Microsoft and Google employees--- thousands and thousands --- al high income young guys... their cars of choice are Teslas, it seems. My neighbor has one, and if I had the money, I'd buy one!

I have a short commute to work. They really are amazing machines. In terms of putting a huge load on the grid... not too sure about that. Of course we have a lot of electrical juice out here due to our hydro electric dams.

A buddy of mine just got a new E63, and yes, it is fast and loud and fun... but my neighbor has a Tesla S, and that thing would SMOKE the Mercedes... all without a sound! He punched it the other day, and my sunglasses ended up in the back seat. corners amazing well and it is so wierd, the lack of noise... Love that car.

Haven't you heard? Most people will be switching to solar and wind power

Driving the Ford Fusion SE hybrid has been a real treat so far.

Brother in law came over to look at it. Gave him the keys, and he turns the key to start it.

He then says "why didn't it start?", and I tell him "It did.".... :-)

Starts in full electric, and although the gas engine will power up as you pull out onto the road, you can do 65+ on full electric.

I'm impressed.

I'm more concerned about the extra draw on the coal-fired and nuclear power plants that have to supply all that electricity to recharge those cars.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

That's what I'm referring to. Some reports say the grid won't expand quick enough to keep up with demand.

The power has to come from somewhere coal, gas, nuke or hydro it all cost and it all (except hydro) has emissions.

If you really want to get under the skin of someone who drives an electric vehicle, ask them how they like their "coal powered vehicle". Since most of the energy in this country comes from coal, it is an accurate statement. It also helps to point out the hypocrisy of calling them "zero emission".
