We're gearing up for the 3rd annual CE Pro High-Impact Products (CHIPs) of the Year awards for the December issue. I'm seeking products that have been available this year--PRODUCTS THAT YOU HAVE INSTALLED on many occasions. Not just concepts, but real products that work great for you and your customers. Kindly email me with your thoughts, or post here.

Escient DVDM 100,

This was shown at last years cedia but didn't start shipping until this year...

I also think the Xantech LCD's are pretty cool

Another item to consider is the Honeywell Symphony color security touchscreen.

AVR2805 - Microphone setup, Component Video upconversion, 32-bit floating point DSP, 100 watts x 8 into 8 ohms, zone 2 amp when not unsing surround back speakers, auto setup, AL24, Pure direct, RS232, 12v Trigger, easy to use and easy setup, Only bad part is the remote control. At this price this receiver cannot be beaten.

DVD1910 - DVD HD upconversion through the DVI Output for only $250

Xantech SPLCD6.4V - Digital Video Touchpanel with bi-directional RS232, IR output, USB, IR Receiver, sense trigger,External IR Bus Input, and PIP. The coolest thing about this touchpanel is that you can hook up elaborate automation systems without having to use a processor or controller, it has a price point much lower than Crestron or AMX, and does the same stuff.

MX3000 - Home Theater Master remote control, nice touchpanel, easy to program, very light and ergonomicly designed, at only $1000 retail

SP4805 - Screenplay projector, great black levels, big picture, new darkchip2, 6x color wheel, and did i mention this sells for 1499.95. Lacks resolution but you can't argue at that price

Samsung DLP - HD3 DLP, nuff said

KLV26SG2 - Sony 26" LCD, High Definition, quick video processing, great looking TV, Most impressed with the picture quality. Could use an extra composite video input on the rear panel.

Hope this helps,

Mike

How about the best product I haven't seen yet....

The merger of computers and A/V seems to be moving along well, on the computer side of the industry. We can watch DVD's and listen to 5.1 on our desktop systems, although I'm not sure why anyone would want to sit at a desk watching a movie for 2 hours on a +/-19 inch screen.
Where is the consumer electronics company (Sony??) that will give us all this built into our next big screen TV, they are starting to put memory card readers in them (Epson), so why not go all the way and give me a computer built into that big box, with a wireless mouse and keyboard. Now I have a true media room device, that is not alot of wires and boxes.

Try Hy-Tek's Tekpanel (tekpanel.com), complete PC integrated into LCD screen with TV tuner and all amentieies of PC and TV. They've been demonstrating for 2 years (including CEDIA this year) but don't seem to understand our channel, much less the U.S. market. Still, a very cool product.
