I'm looking for a device that will recieve a 455KHz IR signal, and emit a "normal" IR signal... Anybody know of any devices that can do this? I was hoping that I could get this done with an Ocelot, but according to smarthome, it can't deal with 455KHz IR... :(

Thanks!

Alle Funktionen lassen sich mit der Fernbedienung Beo1.
(Sorry about that, I was channeling Sven.)
Xantech? [Link: xantech.com]
It doesn't seem this device provides the exact functionality you're after, but it might help.

Thanks alot for this link! Anybody used a xantech MS 455? It looks like it will solve my problem nicely... Put a 455KHz IR reciever somewhere in the room, hook it to the Ocelot via the 40KHz output, and then I should be able to use the Recieve IR event in the Ocelot to emit IR... Sound about right? (I've never used an ocelot before, looks like a way cool device)

Are there any prefered places to order Xantech parts from?

Thanks!

Donald E: Looks like no one's going to help you with any hot Xantech dealers.

In regards to USING that module: I've not used any Xantech translators but all I've read so far, (Here on RC) is favorable. People seem to like and recommend Xantech's stuff.

I have a customer with several B&O products of there own going into there house. I am going to control them with Prontos. What problems will the 455 khz ir signal of the original remote cause?

motor18: If your using TSU2000s it shouldn't be a problem. I believe the original prontos couldn't deal with 455khz IR...

I ended up exchanging email with xantech tech support about the MS455... It actually takes 40khz and makes it back into 455khz. They make special IR recievers that accept 455 from a remote, and output 40. They do this so you can distribute it using normal IR disto gear.

Thanks for all the links to xantech dealers!

Have you gotten this to work yet?

I just completed a job with a B&O remote. Ouch. I wish you the best of luck.

The problem is, the remote keeps track of the source selection and alters all the transports accordingly. You would have to program A LOT of keys into the Ocelot.

We ended up using a SlinkE, with downconverted IR and interpreted the data ourselves in an AMX module (not much fun, I can tell you!).

Solved my problem another way... Heres the problem I was having... I put a BeoSound 3000 in a room with X10 controlled lights. Wanted to use the B&O remote to control the X10 lights. So I was gonna use the Ocelot/xantech combo to "convert" the B&O IR into X10 commands... The joys of only one remote!

I solved the problem by getting a wicked good deal on the actual Lutron (GrafikEye) B&O light control. Ofcourse now I need to get the electrician in to rewire the room. :)

Thanks for all the pointers! More info for future jobs...

Thanks, I think!

It actually worked out well. The only problem is if the IR receiver gets flooded (Plasma or lights) the whole AMX can get bogged down. Once we had the IR receivers properly installed, everything ran A-OK.
