Can anyone recommend a camera that is up to the task of being on the water with salt air?
Clients want cameras installed, 2 facing the ocean, the other 2 facing the front of the house which is not in direct contact of the salt breeze.
To give you an idea, we installed 6 deftech outdoor speakers last summer and we are replacing them in a few weeks since the salt "ate" them.
Obviously it is just a harsh environment and will probably need to be replaced every other year anyway. Also ive pre-wired it for both IP cams and analog!

I put some Speco in two years ago on an ocean front property and they have not missed a beat. Still look great.

avoid foscom imho ... had a couple for personal use, one never worked, the other worked ok but then IR died, and now even for daytime use it no longer works :(
We've been using dropcam for our office, have been mightily impressed.

We've been using dropcam for our office, have been mightily impressed. I think you are talking about something COMPLETELY different than what he is looking for. Does Foscam or Dropcam even have outdoor rated cameras?

I've put up a lot of the LTS CMT2075's on beach houses in Galveston. They hold up extremely well. We have had to go back a few times to replace some but the failure rate is a lot lower than anything else we've used. The main problem is salt builds up on the glass and blurs the whole image and we have to go back just to clean them. LTS has a distribution center here in houston were we get those from

Ive got Wirepath and Speco on numerous beach properties. Some a bit off the beach and some right on the water. All of them are doing well. Just dont expose connections and be sure to use the provided gaskets.
