Thanks!

I first saw a similar one in about eighth grade: do you mean "Help your Uncle Jack off a horse" or "help your uncle jack off a horse"?

Here's good old reddit, showing a real world difference between thoughts and topics in the world of poorly expressed slang and those in actual English. Just look at the TOTALLY different responses garnered by correct grammar!

Somewhere in reddit there's a graphic stating that you should know that if you correct someone's grammar, you will be hated.

Then there's this discussion ([Link: reddit.com]) asking why one will be hated for correcting grammar. I learned German and French in school, and some limited Spanish in life, and I would not be able to do nearly as well as I do without people willing to correct me as I spoke. I had to find a place where someone would correct the German, but any place you speak French someone will be ready to correct you!

An odd subject came up somewhere: is conversate a word? I propose that it is not a word in English, but since it is a phrase in Spanish, pronounced roughly as con-vair-sa-tay, some English speakers see the word, don't get that it's Spanish, and sound it out. See? Ignorance of Spanish can create ignorant English words!

English speakers have pronounced what they see for eons. I remember a BBC Radio Play where Don Juan was pronounced Don Jew-enn. Hey, that's what the letters say!

Finally, if some of us are grammar Nazis, are the rest of us grammar Jews? I guess not, until we actually start killing. Since we don't, y'all can lighten up.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
