So... recently I was looking at google maps on my Samsung Galaxy S4 . I turned on the satellite view and zoomed in on my place. Cool! The planter that I put on top of the carport adjacent to the stairs two years ago is now in the photo!
But just now I looked at the same view on my ThinkPad and the photo is the same four-year old photo that's been up all that time.
What's the deal? Two separate sets of photos for the world? I guess that's no big deal for Google....

My photo just updated with a car that's been parked in this particular spot for no more than 6 months. That update just happened last week.

Could be it hasn't synchronized... or you're just not connecting to the same data server... or they don't deem it to be the best view for your area and device.
For example, the one they always show for my area is from September 2009. But if I go into Google Earth, I can also see satellite views from October 2012 (nowhere near as clear) and September 2013 (dark and low resolution). Even the Street view doesn't default to the most recent available for some reason. Interesting going back to 2002 and seeing how undeveloped my area was then.
