10:15 pm tonight I get a text saying "we lost power for 2 minutes last night and nothing works now. Help".

Thanks for waiting till 10:15 to let me know. Not that I would have jumped on a holiday. I used to but now make my time MY TIME. They can watch tv tomorrow.

What else did you expect them to do with no power at the house.
Cellphones still work, thus the call.
If you wait long enough, even cellphones will die and with no way to charge them, you'll have peace and quiet once again :-)

Damn, I forgot that people can charge their damn phones in the cars :-(

Only call I got was from a client on where to buy a new ipad. They have version 1 and will not update for an app they want.

Mario, they lost power for 2 minutes the night before last. They texted me last night. The only thing affected was one tv and DMS music.

Mike, but of cause that one TV is the most important thing in the house.
Maybe, just maybe they could somehow figure out how to live for few hours without that particular TV, coping with the use of the DMS music; but since that went out as well, chaos was abundant. :-)

I'm not sure if my sarcasm comes thru on some of my posts.
Yet another reason for your to get your ass to Denver so you can get to know me that much better :-)

What annoys me to death is that just about every time i deal with someone from the phone/cable/satellite companies they are incompetent....and when you get frustrated with them they act as if no one has ever had a problem with their skills/service.

I understand how it works...they get trained quickly/poorly and pushed out there on their own..but come on...if you suck please just admit it so we can move beyond the manufactured shock. If i don't know how to do something i admit it/state it immediately.

Someone here recently said they hated telling a client that they didn't know. That's the wrong approach.

I don't see how not telling lets you move forward. You still have a problem, you don't have an answer, and the client has no reason to wonder why you're taking time to figure something out! (And probably charging them for the time, too.) (I do charge for this: they hire me for my expertise, and expertise includes fighting your way out of a technological paper bag, snafu, or fubar sityation until that effing HDMI submits to your will.)
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
