Man this cyclical business is so crazy.

Market when you are busy!

Blah blah blah.....

We went from 0 jobs in the pipeline to more than 10 in a week.

I give props to all of you that weather this storm with such patience.

It took everything in me to not go crazy while we were slow.

Ride and enjoy the wave while you can. We have three months of work to install in the next 30 days. It will be crazy busy, and then a lull we start a commercial project that will keep a crew or two busy for six months.

I guess my point is for those that have slow points. Learn to enjoy them and use the down time wisely.

Do everything you meant to do while you were busy as hell.

Create a process or ten.

You might have a happy medium where 2 weeks during the entire year where it is easy going/smooth sailing! It's typically either super stressed out because of the lack of work or overwhelming because of the amount of work. Unfortunately it's never just easy!

I'm looking to hire 2 more guys and possibly losing my #1 to Cali.

Are most of you guys the actual business owners or just hired subs for other companies? When you find yourself overwhelmed, are you hiring employees or subs? When you are super slow, are you laying off guys or using when needed?

I ask because, as an owner for 13 years now, I have rode these "waves of feast or famine" for a while, and have had both salaried guys and hourly - but they've always been employees of the company. During slow periods, this eats your cash faster than anything. Just a frustrating thing :) Anyone figure out or have a good system where they use AV professionals only when they need them AND can 1099 them at the end of the year, without running the fear of not having them when you need them or finding out they have been quietly stealing business by undercutting you and re-contacting your clients? Lol - long sentence!

We are also completely covered up right now. You don't want to complain about being busy, but for us right now it's to the point where we could end up pissing customers off if things aren't managed carefully. Everyone wants theirs right now
