Leviton and Siemon both offer a comprehensive set of snap-in modules that can be used both in wall plates AND patch panels. Are there any other comprehensive snap-in solutions any of you are using and why do you prefer them? The snap-in solution must accomodate a wide range of connectors including:
F
Banana/binding post
BNC
RCA
Cat 5
Cat 6
etc.

Thanks

I've found Leviton the way to go. They have a wide range of products and in stock at most of my suppliers

Pass and Seymour also make a complete set of jacks, I am not sure about the CAT6 inserts though. I use them when I have a job that has to match the P&S swtich and outlet covers, which are common in our area. The plate goes on first, which makes it hard to test and certify before drywall. If there is any tension on the wire, which is common with RG6Q, the F connectors have a tendancy to pop out or distort the plate.
You will have to make sure the installers keep the some slack in the cables to push them back. This is easy to do if you use the Carlon LV boxes on inside walls, but outside walls can be a pain in a SG box.
On most of the jobs, I use Leviton Quickport product. I have used Siemon products in the past. I started with those first in my business. I still have a Siemons patch panel in my basement. I would not reccomend the Seimons product at this time because they have a small insert plate that goes in the front that locks the insert in. It takes to long to deal with and they are easy to lose (by making them fly accross the room, both intentional and not). The other point on Seimon is the price. A little too much.
I am going to pusue the Avaya rep and take a look at their products next.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

Grey Fox has a new line of keystone jacks.
Since they are owned by P&S the light almond color matches, they snap in from the back and they don't pop out. Been available since May.
No Cat6 or BNC yet and it bugs me that they use cat5 as phone jacks(ever plug a computer network connecter into a phone jack).

Leviton has poor color match in almond, even with their hi voltage plates.

Nobody I have found makes a single decora plate, I hate using a double with a blank insert, it looks off center. Speaking of off center does anyone like the OnQ plates where all jacks are mounted to the left of the center line?

Due to color match problems I usually will use what sparky has chosen.

Phil,

have you actually used Leviton?

I only ask because you bagged on them for a color mismatch, yet you can get their entire line of decora plates through distributors such as Graybar, CED, Rexall, ADI, AVAD, etc....ohh...and home depot, and probably correct the slight mismatch...

They are frames, in several colors (at last check, white, almond, lt. ivory, ivory, grey, brown and black)

all with matching inserts...

and if you REALLY want decora, what about lutron?

PLUS their standard colors

leviton makes a single hole as does proconnect from AVAD. leviton is slipping with the color match.

Leviton does have the best selection of keystone inserts with their Quickport line.

The only problem I've had with them is their almond Quickport plates are a different shade than their almond switch and A/C plates. As the majority of my customers are using almond I hate it when my plates are a different color from sparky's.

To clarify the problem with a single decora, if I need only a cat5 computer jack and the customer requests decora, I must use a 40850 2 port insert using a blank module to make it a one port plate. They make a single decora phone plate 40638, a single decora F connector 40681 but no single cat5 plate. In non decora they make a single Quickport plate 40701 but not in a decora style.

I hadn't thought of Lutron, thank you, but unless sparky is using them for AC the style of plate will be different.

Leviton and ICC both make a single port decora.

I'm curious why the Decora thing is an issue though.

Stacking the data/phone/coax side saddle with electrical that has decora?

I have checked Leviton vendors, their web site and their catalog. I find no single port quickport decora INSERTS. They come only in 2 port, 3 port, 4 port and 6 port.
The decora wall PLATES do come in singles.

I will take a look at ICC.

Thanks,
Phil

Hellerman/Tyton is a pretty good product line. Just another option.
