If I have them in a rack with a distributed video system, they are on a scheduler to power cycle them once a week. I have also found that my wireless one in my house needs to be rebooted about once a week. It will show that it is connected to the network. I can look through my movies on my computer, but it never loads a movie. Quick reboot fixes the problem.

You can do a macro that is menu, menu menu, menu, right, right right, right, right, down select, down down down down down down down down down down down select, to get it to reboot. Make sure you move the settings app right below the computers app. The only problem is when they do an update and add a category to the settings, then it wont work. I have done this in my house, and it seems to been working for the past 6 months.

The other options is to show your clients how to reboot them in the menu, or throw in the small watt box IP piece and have it reboot every night at 3am.

Lately Ive just been using Wattbox IP to schedule a reboot once a week on all devices that need it and I also add a reboot page on the RTiPanel to reboot various devices independently (Apple TV, Router, Processor, Sat boxes, Nuvo amp...etc.)

How many google TV's do you get calls about? What's that? None? Because no one uses that garbage?

If you're going to be a fan boy you might as well pick something good.

I have managed to capture the reboot command that is actually included in the Apple TV command set. It fires out of an apple remote after you hold the down and menu command for 6 seconds. I've converted it to hex and it works on all my control systems. I've added it as a button on my customers controllers. I've also set up daily reboots on a early am schedule. I use flags to make sure the reboot doesn't take place while the Apple TV is in use. If anyone wants the code send me a million dollars haha na I'll post it here soon. This has completely eliminated callouts related to Apple TV on my projects. It is such a powerful command that even an Apple TV on the black screen of death responds to the command. So everyday the apple TV's a freshly rebooted.

Force that cheeky apple tv to reboot. Ended up with these two variations

I find there is very little rhyme or reason to them.

One house has 6 appletvs in it, twice now, all 6 of them (at the same time) have lost network connectivity. All are hardwired.
Reboot fixes them all.

Another house, pretty much identical network, probably ~ a year of uptime.

I have 3 at my house. 2 I never even think about. The 3rd one has to be rebooted about 1x a week.
In fact the reason I have it is it was a pull from a client's house for this problem, it persisted even after a factory reset.

Everybody from those 2 jobs on has had IP controllable power. No issues

I have to reboot and reset the video output to RGB high so I don't get the washed out pink on my projector. The TV that is plugged into the same matrix never gets the pink picture, even if I have the projector and screen displaying AppleTV at the same time.

I went with the hard network connection, so I never have to reset the WiFi or reconnect it.

It does seem a bit cheesy for a product with the Apple on it. I never had to reset the Roku and I threw Chromecast out of a window...

Some of the earlier Apple TV had this problem. There was a site somewhere that had serial number wildcards and if your unit matched they would take it back by appointment at the stores. I need to find this again, its been awhile, but I had an Apple TV with the same issue in my basement and I had it replaced it with a new version and it does not exhibit that issue anymore.

This is not to say that this is the only thing that could cause this issue, but it was mentioned discreetly by Apple.
