See post on 8/28. Can anyone help with this? I will buy item needed and pay for programming. The company who orig installed sys is gone and library needs help. I can handle rest of job but have no exp with AMX. System was running fine, they just want to use wall control instead of remote panel. I need to submit quote to them asap because of grant timing. Repeat.... I will pay to have work done, they have been told that work on amx will have to be subbed but I need to give them ballpark numbers.

Tom,

I went and read your other post. It seems to me that you need to be far more specific on what you have and what you need to do before anyone can help you either via posting or getting paid for programming. Maybe a very generic overview of how and AMX systems and touch panel works will steer you in the right direction. I do not know anything about the Axcent system but I am sure it functions similar.

By what I gathered, you have an AMX Axcent 3 system that you are adding a CV6 wall mounted touchpanel to. That in itself should not be a problem. The CV6 would connect directly into the AXlink card or to an AXlink distribution board. This connection provides power to the panel and a bidirectional data path between the touch panel and the system controller.

The CV6 is configured using a program called TPDesign (Touch Panel Design) via a serial connection to a PC (it can be done via AXlink but it is slower). TPD loads the graphics and the corresponding device and channel assignments to the buttons, page flips, variable text, etc.. The touch panel does not have any commands stored in it; it simply transmits device ID and channel numbers to the system when a press occurs.

The Axcent 3 is then programmed as to what function to perform when it "sees" a button press. This can be a serial or IR command, contact closure, etc. This is where I can't help you with the older systems since I only know Landmark and Netlinx (similar to Axcent).

What confussed me and, apparently others is the request for an updated IR Library. This would be needed to add/change an IR controlled source, not to add on a touchpanel. Maybe you need both??

Hope this helps you understand what others need from you so you can post you needs with more detail. Include as many model numbers as possible and maybe someone with Axcent 3 experience can help or call to sub his/her services.

Good luck

Randy

Tom,

One other question....are they wanting to ADD the CV6 or use it to REPLACE the "remote panel". If they are wanting to replace an existing AMX wireless remote that already performs all of the functions needed, this may be a piece of cake!

In that case, you would simply create the same exact button presses on the CV6 as what the current remote does and configure it for the same device ID. You may even be able to use the existing TPDesign file. You could update the graphics if you want better aesthetics, but it would not be necessary.

Again, I don't know Axcent, but, on Landmark and NetLinx this would work, and, if you weren't using any two-way feedback, you could get away w/o touching the system controller software; just TPDesign!

Randy, thanx for the response. As to IR library...???

Very simply, I'm trying to help out a Public Library which has limited funds. the sys has been functioning properly with the touch panel, but for whatever reason they do NOT want to have this panel accesible, they want a wall touch panel on the wall. I'm not familiar with this equip but he has "been on the internet" and has informed me what he wants. No changes optional.
Then we will add 2 new projectors and dvd, the sys will then need to be prog for these new devices. Hope this makes things clearer. If not , ask again, I'm trying.

Tom,

My bad....I read the threads too fast, the word "library" caught my eye and I assumed "IR Library"...

So, it sounds like they want to keep the existing remote and ADD the CV6. This, plus the additions, either serial or IR for them, means you do need a qualified Axcent 3 programmer. I can't help there, but are the any others willing to help?

Another option, although it can get quite costly is to call AMX and speak to their programming department and get a quote for them to program it. I forget what they call that dept, but Marc Stoltz used to be the manager; not sure if he still is.

Good luck!

Randy

Must of missed the other post..........

Do you have the Original Source code for the Project? You cannot simply add to the code once its been compiled, uploaded, and run on the control processor. Very few companies upload the source code for the project into the controller... But its posible that its there. Also, depending on what panel they currently have you may be able to extract the file for editing instead of starting from scratch.

You need a qualified AMX Tech togo to the site and do a little investigating before anyone can give you a quote.
