I can't agree with your assessment of Angie's List. They have kept me alive the last few years and I've done thousands of dollars worth of business because of Angie's List. I've met some really great people as well.

If you have a problem though, I think you have to get Angie's a List involved. Writing a bad review may be one thing, but if you really feel that the tile guys work was that bad, there is an arbitration process. Complain to someone. Ask for a refund. Get them involved.

The reviews are dated so yeah, yours gets buried if ten other people after you write reviews, good or bad. You paid for a membership to find a reputable contractor. Don't let him get away with that.

I found that Al was virtually useless in the beach area anyway, so that particular subscription was cancelled. No more Al for me.

As to the tile idiot, his low standards cost him literally thousands of dollars, since I had two local very busy, high end, builders ready to go with him based on my recommendation. These guys were willing to pay above average, top dollar, for good, timely work, and they won't be using him. And if you know the construction business, you know that builders tend to talk to each other, so his name is out there on the wires...

Me, I'm flipping houses now, and have found someone else to do some of the heavy lifting, like crawling around on the floor laying tile (that job really sucks).
