I just booted up a desktop that I use a few times a month, a message popped up that said in the next 6 days that microsoft will stop supporting XP, and that I need to buy new software, and if my PC didn't support new software I sold buy a new PC.
My first response was F#&K Bill Gates, my second was "great, a new Mac in this room!"
Why I can't take a call from a customer and say "I'm sorry, your receiver only supports HDMI 1.1, I don't do service calls for them anymore, you need to buy a model that supports 4K."
Or "Sorry, MX3000 editor sucks, you need to buy an RTI system." How's that rock you've been under? haha. Come on man, how did you not know about this? I mean, that's like booting up Tiger or Leopard and wondering why you can't update Safari to support flash. It's ten years old. Do you have a TV or piece of audio gear that you still call current at ten years??

The other big issue is that it is the native operating system for most ATM machines so be careful if you use ATM machines frequently as they could become very vulnerable. OK, I will. Had been a little careless there lately.

There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions. |

Honestly, the computer is 5 years old, has no issues, a little slow, and hardly gets used, it's in a guest bedroom. I use a Mac in my office and we have laptops for our every day. It's sort of like my wife's old honda, we bought her a new car, I have my car, but that damn honda runs great, is well maintained, gets good gas mileage, and is fun to drive compared to my SUV and van. I just don't see the point in getting rid of it, because aside from being a little older and the clear coat could be redone, there's nothing wrong with it. I just hope the mechanic doesn't say he stopped working on 10 year old cars and I need a new one.

I suppose you can always find someone who knows this stuff, but you may have to travel far or pay a premium. And finding part could be difficult. I have a machine from three years ago that has no lan driver support for windows 7. And the ethernet jack is native to the MB. It's going to cost a lot to get a card that supports one of the MB old slots. Que sera.
