James Loudspeakers have marine options, with stainless steel grills.

If they get painted out, make sure they are powder - coated. Also make sure the screws are zinc.

Many previous models worked fine, but Niles, Klipsch, SpeakerCraft, etc. have all switched to frameless grills that attach with magnets. Obviously, for a magnet to stick, there has to metal that will readily rust.

Who makes a in-ceiling speaker with a press-in aluminum grill?

I also paint the grills with a clear spraypaint to help keep them alive.

Hey you son of a bitch, are you insinuating that episode isn't well made?

Sonance, James. I've had good luck with both, but nothing is impervious. Make sure the backside of the speaker is protected from salt air if you can, it helps tremendously.

We sold a bunch of Episode Speakers, last fall, and they are already rusting. We now switched to Sonance. The Episodes sounded good, they just didn't hold up well. Plus for a little more the Sonance Mariners kick their butt.

Both the Extreme and Mariner models are covered for 5 years. Any rusting issues, we'll simply swap them for you. Of course, the bigger deal is the potential non-paying callback for your time, which won't happen in the first place.
