Starting to grow weary of dragging 17" laptops around to basic C4, URC or network setups.

Thinking about picking up a lightweight convertible Wn8 Based tablet for some of these small jobs.

Looking at the Asus Transformer T100, Sony Tap11, Dell Venue 11.... MB Air is an option as well.. But by the time I parallel Windows onto it, price may be just too high right now.

Love my big ass MBP17, but my Asus 17" DTR is getting a bit rough around the edges. good excuse to get something light.

Really? I mean, seriously?

"dragging 17" laptops"? Hell, I weigh about thirty pounds more than I should and I drag that around every day! How about you? Are you of the age where you should lose some weight? How about doing twenty to a hundred laptop lifts per day?

I'm reminded of a line from "The Big C" where Alan Alda, playing a doctor, pats a man's large midsection and says "there's a heart attack in there and it's got your name on it!"

Or maybe, in the words from Lethal Weapon, "I'm getting too old for this sh*t." Problem is, if I wanted to cut back on the physical stuff I'd specialize in programming... and then I'd have to carry the computer.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Sure, I could use to lose a few lbs, thats not my point though.

If I can get away with one of these newer Tablets, why not?

I have a Toshiba convertible tablet. It works fine, I just wish it had a bigger screen especially for rti programming. It's 13" and I can't wait to get a larger screen.

I think to Ernies point, sort of, is if you're anything like me your laptop bag carries 5-10lbs in cables, tools, power supplies, glue, zip ties, etc so is the sacrifice of a pound or two worth all that screen real estate when you can just dump a few extra cables out.

Keep the bigger screen.

Talking with a friend about this, he suggests
*switch hands so the other one strengthens (I don't think he was specifically referring to computer carrying)
*when you come home, put down the computer and pick up a free weight that's twenty pounds heavier than the computer. That 'puter will feel light in no time!

Then there's this; sorry about the humongous amount of ads: [Link: beliefnet.com]

(That site should be held up as an example of how to alienate your audience through advertisements!)

Not going to get rid of my 17's.

not getting rid of my 24" monitor at my desk either.

A Tablet PC just seems like it would be nice to have. Was hoping to get some input from people that use em.

I use a surface pro for quick changes in remotes and programming small jobs. It's good for setting up wifi networks as well. The screen is to small to do a lot of programming on though
