I've not seen a piece of consumer electronics gear, with enough internal capacitance, that when powered off for 15 minutes, that it was any more "powered down" than it was at the end of 30 seconds. If the thought is that it allows heat to dissipate, then I would contend that 15 minutes is not enough if you believe heat to be the issue.

So Brent... do tell. What instance makes you say 15 minutes?

I've seen this power supply [Link: heedaudio.hu] with the power LED on 10 hours after it was unplugged from the wall.

That's why I quoted Brent and not you. I've had HDMI extenders that stopped connecting. Multiple 30 sec to a minute resets wouldn't fix it went through all of the correct trouble shooting procedures. Popped them out, replaced them, everything works. Assume bad extender. Get it back to the shop at the end of the day, hook it up, NPF

Under load?

Powering just an LED for 10 hours is not difficult - not with the "super" capacitors they have these days.

No, the point of the solution is BECAUSE it has to be done. Dish isn't going to change and Panamax has a solution to keep your customer's box working and prevent your truck rolls.

Why are people so resistant to an answer when it is presented to them?

Not resistant. In IP controllable surge protector is an obvious solution. The point is its a solution to a stupid problem that shouldn't exist.

Its like "my car makes this clanking sound and the fix is to turn up the radio". It doesn't fix the problem. Its a band aid.
