The performance is the best of any device I've used. Definitely seems snappier than Apple TV, Boxee, Western Digital and Roku.

one thing that just let me down is i was streaming a youtube video from my phone to my chromecast and saw the firetv show up so i tested it.. The chromecast went to HD after 2-3 seconds.. the firetv never made the switch to HD

The only thing stopping me from getting one yesterday, is the lack of an IR sensor or IP control. However, I'm sure it's only a matter of time before something is figured out... :-)

Just got mine up and running.

Cool that it was preloaded with my account (based on my Prime account info). Like others mention, GUI is lacking but speed is impressive.

Question on hardwire LAN setup - in the 5 minutes I have played with it, I can't find a way to set a static IP address. When I go to NETWORK settings and enter a static IP, it wants to then connect to my WAP. Am I missing something?

Not a big deal, I can reserve the DHCP address in the router but was looking to connect to a Wattbox to ping it.
