I recently had the cable guy tell my customer that I had damaged their 8 way splitter. I had disconnected an unused line and hooked up a new line I had run to their new projector(which worked fine). When they had problems on another set they called time-warner and were charged 55.00.
On another install with a component switching receiver and HD ptv the cable guy told me that they were not supposed to hook up to any expensive systems(I had the component wires laid out for him to hook up to the cable box).
What do they with and expensive plasmas?

TWC will usuall not attempt a hookup of a plasma. Sometimes in a rare instance a knowledgable cable guy will switch a box out. Once they cannot find the equipment and then they see all of the xantech stuff hooked up and the component out of the cable box goes into a receiver they have no clue what to do. We have a partnership with TWC and we install and stock their HDTV cable boxes which eliminates much of the problem.

Been awhile back, but I had a TW installer burn out 2 stereo modulators by rerouting the cables, which were running from satellite receivers (carrying voltage).

Apparently these old, and pricey, modulators don't take to having even a small amount of voltage applied to the output side....lol

Backcharge to TW was $750.00.
