In Washington state, large growing operations are starting up. This will be a great opportunity for some of us, as the state dictates what security / video systems are required. Currently bidding on a smaller grow facility with 37 1 terrabyte cameras... card readers perimeter sensors and all of the bells and whistles. There is kind of a gold rush going on up here as everybody is clammoring for grow licenses. Could be an interesting article for Julie. For those of you not aware, these operations are legal in Washington state... but come with very strict video survelience specs from the state...which is good for our business.

Ha ha maybe... Actually I dont like the stuff... too potent these days.
I have two friends with large acerage, and deep pockets starting up grow operations... high tech greenhouses. One operation is 10,000 square feet, the other is going to be 60,000!
Thats a lot of weed!

I'm actually entertaining the idea of leaving the business and moving out to Cali to get in on an opportunity with a friend who is already growing for the medical dispensaries. Recreational is apparently going on the ballot again next year, and is expected to pass, so this is the time to get in and get established before the flood gates open and every idiot that thinks they can grow a houseplant, why not high grade cannibus as well jumps in.
Both growers and dispensaries are going to need security and surveillance. Dispensaries are pretty vulnerable to robbery, from what I've been told. I'd think there is a pretty good market to be tapped here.

Trillium... yeah both of these are for medical weed. Large money to be made / but not without high risks / hence the high security requirements. Very strict guidelines are being established.

Just found out a friends daughter has epilepsy. She is 5 years old, has had three severe brain surgeries, and they have all been unsuccessful. She went to get treatment in Colorado with the oil of Cannibus, and it worked great and limited the amount of seizures dramatically. They are thinking of moving from Cincinnati because they can get the drug in CO. Makes me want to buy stock in some of these companies. The world is changing, and it time to ride the tide (stick).

Mike, watch the Dr Gupta Weed specials. Weed 2 talks about families moving to Colorado because of the same exact reasons.

Cannabis balm is what my friend uses on his back. The only thing that works.
Seeing and hearing the side effects warnings on prescription drugs is horrifying.
May cause stroke, heart attack blah blah blah...

I read somewhere that the second most valuble crop grown in the US is marijuana. Only corn generates more cash.
My guess is that once most of the states legalize pot and farmers start growing acres and acres of it then the prices will drop dramatically. Why should pot cost more than tobacco. My mother was from Georgia and no one went into fields and stole tobacco.
The main reason it will stay high is because of the taxes. States will jump at the opportunity to tax the hell out of it. But if growers are thinking that they will be able to grow pot and sell it for $200 an ounce those days are over.

We are in a very transitional state right now. I have been investing in Medical Marijuana stocks...lots of upside, little downside.

The problem is that the higher quality plants that are used for medical, and are being sold in Colorado and Washington can't be produced outside. The growers in CA have the most potent strains around according to high times. In LA, the medical mj setup makes it *almost* legal, it's so easy to get. There are literally 5 dispensaries within walking distance from my house in the valley. The really cool things happening in the medical and legal states is the new strains being bred. They are making strains with high levels of CBD (the painkiller/nausea relief) and low THC (the stony/high part). This is the kind of medicine they gave the little girl on the specials, it's awesome to see! As legalization spreads, real scientific peer reviewed studies are going to become much easier to do, and true research into pot as a medicine is finally happening.

[Link: drugscience.org]Obviously these are only estimated numbers and the study in question was in 2006. Any way you slice it, this is a shit ton of money the government is not taxing. And the billions it wastes on the legal system and the jail system. Plus the benefits we are finding to be true.
