I would love to hear everyone's opinion in regards to performance, reliability, cost, and profitability. I currently use URC and plan on getting trained in Savant. Thanks in advance!

It's all preference these days. Pick the one that fits you and your clientele best.

They are all good or great at something. If you are a small shop some will work better for you than others.

If you are doing programming then you need to pick one that fits your skill level.

Only if you decide to concentrate on system and master it. Not a jack of all trade wanna be. Also, what targeted market are you after at?

way too many variables to say..

URC simply can't do half of what AMX and Crestron can do. AMX and Crestron are equal as far as capability goes. RTI is a small step above URC as far as capability is concerned.

Most system reliability comes down to who installed it and who programmed it.

This is one of those questions that has no right answer. For every ten people you get that love control system "X", you'll just as easily find ten people who hate it.

The key is to know who you are and what you want to do as a company, then research all of the systems out there and select the one/s that best fits your needs. Once you do, don't half-ass it. Attack it with vigor and get to know all its intricacies inside and out. It will benefit you greatly in the long run.

You ever wonder if someone was just bored, created a new user, and posted the question?

To echo what has already been said, choose a product and go with what suits your comfort level of support. You will drive yourself crazy trying to determine what is the "uber" product in each category. I find that if I use the product myself and I like it, I can sell it (or even potentially buy stock in it ;))

FWIW, RTI is what we use.

Pick a vendor you can actual work with, some have minimums, long learning curves and are hard to get access to the line. It's no good even talking about one vs another until you know what's possible.

Buy a demo system, get trained and then put the demo in your home and live with it.

The barrier to entry on Crestron and AMX is steep unless you have a background in programming. Plus I feel like they both have a lot of headwinds in the resi market due to easier to program systems that can do most or all of what they offer plus a lot of clients I talk to have had a bad experience with them in the past and don't want to go there again (know your market).

Personally, I've done AMX and Crestron (install only, no coding just managed a outside programmer) and C4 (install and programming).

I don't know much about URC TC but have heard that it's going to go up against C4 in terms of capabilities and system costs. You didn't say which level URC your at - assume CC and not TC?
