When you go out to a job site to check on the progress . Do you count the time towards the labor buget? We were discussing this to day and I Wondered how the rest of you handled this.

One person thought it was a function of sales dept and not countable towards labor.

One person thought it was project management and did count.

I agree with Project Management and it's something I've got a lot better about charging for in the last two years.

It goes to PM and is billed as a percentage of the project total.

Project management and billable
Ed will be known as the Tiger Woods of the integration business, followed closely with the renaming of his company to "Hotties A/V". The tag line will be "We like big racks and tight holes"...

it depends what hat you're wearing for the visit.

if you're visit is to help steer the project, it's PM (and a direct expense)

if you're visit is for relationship building, it's SG&A

if you're visit is to keep your finger on the pulse of your delivery staff and processes, it's SG&A
If it's not simple, it's not sufficiently advanced.
