I need to convert the HDMI output of a ROKU to component video/analog audio. Does anyone know if the video coming of a ROKU will have HDCP copy protection in that signal. I need to determine what converter to purchase. If there is no HDCP involved I can buy a less expensive converter. Thanks for the help.

HDCP is determined by the content not the player, the player only passes on the flag and verifies the returning key. So yes, plan for HDCP.

Geez, I thought one of the wonders of HDMI was that you couldn't copy it. Isn't that one of the main reasons we've had to put up with all this crap?

How the stream is flagged determines the 'rules', the content originator determines the 'rules'. Also, for example, if the stream is over cable tv (a cable channel) the cable provider can add 'rules' to the stream, i.e. turn copy protection on, copy once, etc.

Lesson for the day:
The "C" in HDCP does not refer to "copy". It refers to "content". In fact, I would bet that the translation of the anagram is probably as widely misused as the term "balun" when referring to an HDMI extender. High Definition Copy(right) Protection? Wrong again. BZZZZ! High bandwidth Digital Content Protection? There ya go.
BTW, OP, HDFury is the product you would want to look at for your situation. :)
