I'm going back to meet a client that put off doing the theater when there remodel was done (no $ left). I don't do many projectors but looking at using a Black Diamond Zero Edge screen and a good projector to go with it. Are Epsons still a fav by some of you? Which model? The room lighting is controlled (only one window with shades).

Depends on budget but Epson 5030 or 6030, Sony VPL-HW55ES or the entry level JVC's.

I agree with the Epson love above. 6030 unless the budget favors a 5030 and is not flexible. I would be careful about using the Black Diamond unless the viewing cone is pretty narrow...it is a fantastic technology, but the limited viewing angle is pretty noticeable off center.

This is excellent advice and something you need to consider if you haven't used the BD screens in the past. I've installed a few of them now and and they work great in rooms with a narrow viewing angle, but wash out when viewed from off axis. You can purchase a BD zero edge sample from Screen Innovations to use for demo purpose. It's a great tool to hold up and show clients with older screens what kind of improvement they can get by just upgrading sceen.

The room is approx. 10'-12' wide by 25'-30' long. Would you consider that being in the "cone" zone? I'd think it'd be ok but since I haven't dealt with a BD screen before I don't know.

Epson 5030 and 6030 have the same specs. I remember there being some other slight difference such as a different processor, glass lens vs plastic, or something minor. The big thing about the 6030 is for a little more you get a Chief Bracket, an Extra Bulb and an extra year of warranty. Well worth the price increase.
