Hello,

I'm a real non technical kind of guy and need some help. There respective sites offer no help.

I have a dishnetwork sattelite system and bought an RCA dvd player with five speakers. I have no clue how to connect this system. I have tried all the possible connections I could think of to no avail.

The disk is currently connected to the TV. How do I connect the DVD player?
Do I connect directly to the TV?
Do I connect direclty to the sattelite box?

I thought it would be coonected in a daisy chain, you know plug and play, but cant figure it out at all. My wife and Kids are very upset at me cause we've had this for a few months just lying around since I cant seem to get it to work. Please, anyone help by explaining it in kindergarden language a diagram would also be welcomed if possible.

Thanks ahead of time,

You will need to say what kind of TV you have, and does it have more than one set of yellow, white & red connectors on the back? If so, you're in luck. If not, plan B.

As theatreworks says, do you have more "yellow, white & red plugs" on your TV ?
If not do you have perhaps a red, green, & blue plugs ? Those are componet video connections, a better signal for your dvd player to use. And since you say the dvd player has 5 speakers I assume they can come out of the dvd player directly.
Worst case senario, buy a surround reciever.

Thanks.

I have two TV's I could use for this system.

One has two sets of a/v jacks, 1 in front and 1 in the back (W,R,Y)
The other has the same as above inaddtion to the red, green, & blue plugs. Whichever is easiest to setup is the one I want to use :-)

Use the tv with the red, green & blue connectors. Use the red, green & blue connectors (video/picture) to go from the back of the DVD player to the tv. You should also find an associated set of red & white connectors (audio/sound) on the back of the tv and the DVD player, connect these as well.

Use the red, white & yellow plugs to connect the satellite receiver to the tv. You'll find a set of these on the back of the satellite receiver; just connect from the sat receiver to the tv.
