I've used the wirepath DNS, mycrestron.com and use dyndns for all accounts that we put a router in on.
All ill that said, I bet that you went rounds with Comcast opening ports on their modem/router all in one. They probably did a FW update or just updated something then power cycled and everything you setup is now gone.
Personally, if we have to setup anything for a client that requires remote access, we now require a standalone standard cable modem with a router that we know (Mikrotik or Ljnksys/Cisco....usually mikrotik)
