Not to thread hijack, but can someone point me to specific laws explaining what is legal/not legal as far as covert surveillance? We have a customer who keeps asking for a covert camera in an area in which I would consider to have an "expectation of privacy". He wants evidence of someone doing something they're not supposed to be doing--so I don't think he has perverse intentions, but I'd like to be able to reference the law when we decline. I'm in NC if it matters.

Google "Hidden camera laws"!
The laws have been around since 1968 for the audio part. Not sure when on the video but it is in several of the links you will get.

For you and your clients sake, consult a lawyer.
