I think that we should all be required to have a license. It separates us from the trunk slammers and makes sure that LV guys understand, know and abide by the NEC...

And your mistaken theory is exactly how it gets passed. You just took the hook. A license doesn't upgrade a man's work. A guy who don't give a hoot about quality will cut corners with or without a license. You confirm it with your next statement.

Some of the messiest work I see on construction sites is romex HV wire.

By licensed electricians. We have all seen it.

You finally get to the truth at the end here...

The politicians will push laws to prove their value, protect their friends, and take funding from lobbyists (hint hint: the unions) and not give a care at all about us.

It is ultimately about control and generating new revenue for cities, for counties, for states... and yes, for unions.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Not trying to bust your chops, but after slapping your buddy for a Fox News opinion, you quote CNN? Like they are middle of the road or something?

We also got the CEDIA email and voicemail about the MD Senate bill (and House bill 1119). I am seriously thinking about attending both hearings and maybe even speaking about how this would affect as as integrators. Anyone else here from Maryland going to attend?

incase anyone wanted to read...or let your rep know how you feel (like they listen or care about their shallow pocketed base...)
What part of "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." do you not understand?

Most electricians I come across don't know squat about low voltage. And they don't care.

Texas just made it illegal to install cameras without a security license. Go figger.
I came into this game for the action, the excitement. Go anywhere, travel light, get in, get out, wherever there's AV trouble, a man alone.

And where do most electrical inspectors come from? The field. That being the case, they remember their Brothers in the IBEW, so they force the work onto their industry, force the rest of us out, or be licensed.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."
