I am trying to find a consumer source that uses a 56 Khz IR signal for testing. I am looking for something that is not a regional product, like a cable box, but more like something I can purchase no matter the area, something like a Blu-Ray player or AppleTv. This has been pretty hard to find. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer.

Why can't an AppleTV work? It seems like a pretty ideal device to me, let us know why it doesn't.
Does "no matter the area" mean globally? Or just the USA or other country/region? Global gets a lot harder.
Do you need to be able to pick it up in person, or does mail order work? Lots of little things like IR controlled desktop fans, or tiny stereos and things can be gotten to anywhere in the US fast with Amazon.

I am just using the AppleTv as an example of a type of source. The AppleTV IR frequency is around 38Khz. I am looking for something like that that operate on a 56Khz IR signal.

Without knowing a specific product, if you use RTI products you can go to the IR library manager and see what IR frequency different devices are.

It's been a while since I used crestron but I believe their IR library will allow you to do the same thing.

I am doing this right now but so far all I am finding are dedicated sources (things that you need a subscription for) like cable boxes and Dish network. Looking for something I can just buy that does not require service activation. Just testing something that passes 36Khz-60Khz but I need a 56Khz controllable device.

For years, RCA components have used the RCA IR protocol, which is 56KHz. There have been a few RCA TVs in the last couple of years which use 38KHz, but I think they're pretty rare.

Awesome, you are correct! Now I just need to find a functional DTC-100 laying around. I can't tell you how many of those I have thrown away.

Thanks, but nope, nothing to say here.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
