I've run into a situation of needing a "inexpensive" AVR mainly because the Snap mini amp will take more labor than it seems worth it to recess into the wall with a back box, etc.
So, I'm thinking of putting in a Denon E-200 or Yamaha V375 instead. Any preference by you guys. I'd think it's brand preference at this price, unless someone knows anything to choose one over the other.
The other problem is now needing to add a remote since I'm not using the Snap amp with "learning" abilities.
At this point there is only a Cable box but the AVR/ remote combo will give the option of adding other pieces VERY easily. Now that I'm writing this it's a no brainer!! Damn, I really wanted to see how the Snap mini amp performed with one of there speaker bars

I would recommend the NR1504. NR1403 would work too but it's pretty primitive.

The Snap mini amps are not great for a main system with the TV handling multiple sources but I personally think they are a great solution for centralized distributed video systems where the switching is already taking place centrally.

I looked at those but it's not in this rooms budget. I thought I'd be putting in the mini amp, etc...

Do you have budget for spending more time to trouble shoot once problems start to span out?

The system is really pretty "primitive", only a set top box for now and MAYBE a dvd in the future. The budget isn't there for a Marantz.
I know the "cheapy" bare bone avr's don't have many features but I just need reliable 3.0 sound and MAYBE an additional input or two.

Sonos Playbar.  Ditch the 3 channel sound bar, no need for an AVR, or a remote.

Not only will it be a considerably easier installation, bring a Play 3 (or two) with you for additional rooms.

The Video switching portion is important as well. I've seen low budget AVRs (no name mention here) gave nothing but "pinky" snow screens.

Marantz 3 year warranty.

Bump the budget. Now you are offering a solution that is more upgradeable and allows him to actually easily add sources. Talk to him about the benefits and then get him to up the budget. If he simply will not, then put that mini amp in/on the cabinet below and say there you go.

I have used Wioneer for several budget situations, and I have not had one service call on any of them.

I don't get why you will be spending more time on labor? If you want to add a AVF then why put the Mini in a back box? Mount the mini down low with everything else. Using a E200 + remote will be above budget. If it's only cable box then IR learning on Mini would be perfect.
Knowing that Gold went up a few K makes me think "well now I have to do a better job on selling more equipment".
