Hi Guys
I'm having a problem learning remote control functions from an original MCE remote to a global cache Ir Learner.
Basicallly we are swapping out a clients nevo control to demopad,
We learnt the nevo controls from manufacturers remote and everything works perfectly.
Tried with global cache and we can command the function ONCE then have to use a different command before we can use command again.
for instance. When we browse the movies files we cannot go down down down, we can only go down left down.
It is the same with every function.
and yes I know we can control via ip but ir has faster scrolling properties than the ip scrolling. (don't know why but it just does) and client is a fussy B*****rd and now he has experienced fast scrolling wont go back to slow scrolling

The way you describe the codes exactly fits what is called a toggle code. That is, the remote sends out one command; when the button is pushed again, a different command is sent out; when the button is pushed again, the first command is sent out. There is no problem with any button sequences until a button is repeated.
If the codes above don't work, you'll have to investigate how to learn toggle codes. I know the Crestron Learner makes you push each button twice just to be sure it will capture both versions if the remote you're working with happens to use toggle codes. I don't know how any other learners deal with this. There are IR experts in the Pronto Forums who can help with the concept and give guidance, even though you're not working with Prontos.

Ernie is on the right track, but this one is different to a toggle. These IR signals decode as OrtekMCE, and it employs 3 states:
For reference, in IRP notation OrtekMCE is: {38.6k,480}<1,-1|-1,1>([P=0][P=1][P=2],4,-1,D:5,P:2,F:6,C:4,-48m)+{C=3+#D+#P+#F}
The issue is that the repeat frames are not all identical. P is a position code: 0 for the start frame, 2 for the end frame and 1 for all frames in between. So a frame is sent with P = 0 when the button is first pressed. While the button is being held down, P has the value 1. When the button is released, the last frame is sent with P=2.
This is an excellent system which allows the receiver to know exactly what the user is doing (any computer, phone, tablet keyboard uses a similar system.) However the formats used to describe IR signals by Pronto Hex, Global Cache, etc aren't capable of representing this sequence.
UEI remotes use executors (subroutines) to send signals, so it is easy for them to generate the 3 states. I don't know if other manufacturers can do that, but it is clear that a system which depends on the learning approach will be sub-optimal.

Ok Thanks everyone.
I have since noticed that their are several different codes emitted for the same button and if I alternate between them it has the satisfactory result.
Still don't fully understand how the nevo overcomes this but hey it works and that's the main thing.
