Interior designer? Are you kidding? She would insist that her clients use the URC equipment listed above, or more likely more expensive models running at least six hundred dollars. PLUS programming.

I call shenanigans. You've clearly never worked with an ID. Using the cable remote is MORE than fine. All that uneccessary control system money can go towards new leopard printed drapery.

My daughter is in college majoring in "interior design". But, over the years she had figured out what remote systems work. She had a 980 I programmed for her. I'm getting ready to get her a play 5 for her birthday and her apartment. Maybe when she gets a job as a designer, she will not want to hide all the speakers and work with the CI's.
We will see!
why have a nice system if you cant operate it, program the remote the right way the FIRST time!

Alright boys and girls this problem is solved. The Xantech Dinky Link Plasma Proof ([Link: amazon.com] resolved the problem, definitively. So if anyone has issues with their Scientific Atlanta 8300HD in the future, just get this handy little $70 device. It worked the first time out of the box without having to adjust the sensor. EASY!

Thanks for all the advice (and bullshit interior design chatter). Much appreciated.
