I always try and sell my receiver and projector around the 6-12 month mark to stay current. Put the JVC 4910 up yesterday and a Denon 4520 in last week.
But my rack is still a mess.

The beauty is...If the mess doesn't work, I know why and how to fix it.

I haven't even fixed the IR emitter that our psycho cat ripped off the TV two weeks ago. It just dangles there, taunting me. Yet still, I walk over and manually turn on the TV while the control system turns on everything else. It's not like the walk to the truck to get my glue gun is all that far, I just don't want to touch my system at this point unless I'm going to do a major revamp, and I'm afraid that by addressing the emitter, I might get started on all the unfinished odds and ends.

Old house was a pile of random, messy, half working crap.

The new house actually has a rack, 6 mounted displays, the last of the CRTs have been banished and is starting to look and function like someone actually knew what they were doing when they installed it.

Still a long way to go, have to install the house audio stuff, rears for the surround zone, finish up the network and manage the rack.

I won't say it is a labor of love, I would much rather be out turning wrenches, driving my 4x4 or be at the shooting range then working on, well, what amounts to work in my off time.

Once the baby arrived that was that.

My system mostly works. My rack is a absolute embarrassment.

I literally had brand new stuff that I specifically bought for use in my own house (and not just an ordering error or canceled job) with expired warranty before I got to it.

Two weeks ago I installed cooling fan in client's cabinet that was slated for my own installation... 3 years ago.

I have literally had tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment sit for months and years without it ever being installed.
I'm trying to get better, but it's not working.

I just received my URC TC demo/training system.
I basically ordered one of everything (some more) and met with David Robbins to go over initial setup/training (thanks David for coming to my house).

Today or tomorrow I have over $10,000 worth of Russound music system coming in to replace my bad Sphere system.

I'll report sometime in 2015 to let you know if the stuff ever gets installed.

My lighting control has been damaged since Feb. 6th... of last year. I'm not even sure if my insurance company will still be willing to work with me on getting this fixed under the original homeowner's insurance claim. And we're not talking 1 or 2 switches either.

I have a $2,000 subwoofer sitting broken for about a year now. I probably could have had it addressed under warranty, but no more.

Many times I find myself wishing for some 'sickness' that would prevent me from going to work but would still allow me to work in and on my house.
But hey, I'm almost done with my 2008 taxes, and am about to start on the 2009 ones.

Mario I have two broken subwoofers (Rel and James Loudspeaker) that need repair/ parts.

I have countless other items (some even in the rack) that aren't in use.

It really is sad. I spent the down time over break to sell off good gear to friends and family to reduce my AV foot print in the house.

Try this, when you get to the house and park bring the glue gun or some black tape in with you and do it before you sit down. Put a sticky note on your wallet before you go to bed the night before to remind you and set 5 alarms in your phone to go off through out the day.

Don't think about to hard, don't think about other possibilities, just do it! One and done!

You can overcome denial! ;p

On another note, RENTING SUCKS AZZ! My rental is hang and bang heaven with wire track running down the walls and my theater is in boxes in the garage.

When I hang TV's I put wax paper behind the wall contact points that way when I leave I take the TV and all other wall mount stuff down I dab silicone in the holes, dab paint, DONE!

The theater is my motivation to get another home ASAP! It will stay in boxes untill then.

Jon, you are automatically disqualified since you used zip ties and velcro.

I have Pronto RFX9600 in my rack (top item in this picture) that hasn't been powered in 3+years.
But that's OK, because it's rack mounted and it's been holding up my MSC400 which stupidly enough can not be rack mounted without the use of a shelf.

Oh, BTW, the MSC400 has not been used in over a year.

In my main rack, I have at least 4 pieces of equipment that I can think of right now that are non functional.

I must be doing something wrong! I do not have enough gear to require an actual rack! I have a salamander triple 10 that houses a bluray player, roku, airport extreme, netgear switch, and NAS drive.....it also has a broken tivo and broken xbox360 in it.

The wiring is a kludge. My 1 1/2 year old daughter woke me up a few saturdays ago by bringing me the bluray player and dropping in on the floor by the bed....what? She wanted to watch a movie. Granted, it was already unplugged because I needed the HDMI and ethernet cable for the mac mini I was trying to set up before my wife got home from Japan.....and I only have 2 inputs on the TV because I cheaped out and got the UT instead of the VT. :P And I left the power cord unplugged because every time she accidentally turns on the bdp, the TV switches inputs...because I have CEC on and am too lazy to turn it off....and half the time the remote is lost....and my Pro Control remote has not been used once, although I have programmed it at least that many times. :)

All I have learned is that crayon cleans pretty easy from a panny plasma screen. :)

Oooooh...I totally forgot that there is a SONOS bridge in there too somewhere. My CONNECT has not been used in forever, but we have a PLAY:3 that gets used to play Beastie Boys for my girls who love dancing to "INtergalactic" and "Brass Monkey"....I throw in the occasional Cake; "Perhaps" now and then to mix it up.

And I did the TV install mostly right. Panamax in-wall Pro kit and a Sanus mount.

I did not realize this thread would be so incredibly pitiful but it is. We are.

Hell I'd rather post on RC than make my system work.

My problem exactly, though I think some of you would like me to work on my system for a while......

Audiophiliac, be sure to try out the Apple Air Go when it comes out!

What kind of silicone is that paintable?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
