The definition of hodge podge....

I was using a blaster output to control my projector and 4 zones of Lutron.... of course, all 4 switches did the same thing. All up, all down, all on, all off, and that's only if the blaster was lined up properly. Oh, the dog is the way? Sorry, no lighting control or movies for you, jackass.

I have emitters on all four switches, they just needed to be extended from the MRF-300 that used to control them via MX-850. My wife was a bit baffled at seeing lighting scenes and four virtual dimmers on her iPad Mini.

Long story short, it only took 6 years to make it right....

That's "you're" and "there" but you were waiting for me to say that. I thought he was making an oblique reference to Thier-Smell Parameters.

I wrote a program for my TI scientific calculator to calculate port length based on round or rectangular and desired frequency with a series of questions.... I miss those old car audio days.

You could give the outer enclosure dimensions and it would calculate based on 3/4" or 1" thickness, then the diameter of a round port or the length and width of a rectangular port, and finally the frequency you wanted a 3dB bump at.

Time to bust out the Bass Mechanic CD in my Clarion 12 disc center console mounted changer.

I only WISH I had time to play with this stuff in my house!!

During our 12V days, we had a competitor bring his demo vehicle to a contest we were holding in our lot. He made a comment about putting his system up against my personal vehicle. I said "Take a look around you. I've spent the last year working on all these customers' systems so THEY can show off their rides. If I had as much time on my hands as you've apparently had, these guys wouldn't be taking away a trophy."

I would like to make it a priority this year to get automation going in my house. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I don't have time. If I had time to tinker at home, that would be a bit of a problem. Ergo, for the hour of TV that gets watched every once in a while, a Harmony Smart Control and the 5 minutes of "programming" it took to get it up and running are sufficient.

SHAME ON YOU!!!!

You disgust me.

I try to spend 1 day on Weekends working on my own system. Since I use my own house as a showroom, I have to try and keep it up to date. Do not know when the last time was I pushed in my equipment rack. Right before Christmas I finally got my iserver and xm radio working.

I don't understand how you guys aren't burned out on this stuff. A couple years ago I had to FORCE myself to stop saying "yes" to every opportunity and develop a healthy work/life balance. If I was backlogged 2-4 weeks - the customers mostly still had no problem waiting. Earlier this year when my son was born I took a month off .. A MONTH!!!!!!. Any idea how refreshed I was when I started back? The Customers were still there and the phone kept ringing like nothing happened. It was awesome! Yes I lost some revenue along the way but it was worth every dollar..

Are you guys that are soooo busy really happy at the end of the day? Is it worth it? You can't get this time back so it's up to you to decide how to spend it. 12 hour days everyday is foolish!

Fun House no one said they were too busy working. We said we had better things to do.

Hell I'd rather post on RC than make my system work.

I just shut down the shop for close to 3 weeks and we ramped right back up as if nothing ever happened. I WILL be doing thing this both Christmas and during the Summer.

I guess Im odd man out. I tweak something almost every day! I sometimes should be working on clients stuff but im addicted more to my own, lol. Love bells and whistles and CONTANTLY playing with mine. Doesn't burn me out at all. Often cant wait to get home to tweak my own system.

Doesn't hurt being single though, lol.

I absolutely love this stuff. I purchase little parts and pieces all the time. This has always been my first hobby, now this has taken a back seat to my business. I research and tweak the business instead of my AV.

Now I am not saying the new hobby is working out better with the tweaking, it's just want I am into.

This weekend I put in a new Pakedge switch, ADA audio switch, and finally put rack ears on some Panamax power strips. All of this in anticipation of my new pre/pro that arrives tomorrow.

Like it, or not, their database is better than URC's.

My problem is that since I always know what is coming next, I never want to buy anything! I do not always have to have the latest and greatest things. But for some reason, when it comes to buying AV gear, I cannot get myself to buy this year's stuff when next year's stuff is only 6 months away. Air go (let us see if Ernie catches that one), I do not have much of a "system". Of course we are renting....a room or 2....at my in-laws' home, so it does not make much sense to put anything fabulous in. When we get around to moving back into our home (we are renting it to some friends for now), it may become more pressing to put something together.

For now, with 2 youngsters, a wife that works 2 or 3 nights a week, and work being so busy, I am happy to not have the time to spend on "personal" stuff. I would much rather hang out with my kids reading "Fox in Socks" than anything that involves wires or brackets or programming. :)

I have some pretty big plans for our house. I just need to be living there to work on it. I somewhat reluctantly put some grass in the back yard over the summer. I put a lot of sweat, blood, and Rockstar into a project that I will not be able to enjoy for who knows how long. No way am I going to put in the landscape audio system for them too! :)

I think they also have a discrete power off/sleep command for the Apple TV.

If you think about it, I need a remote with a one button macro to fire on and input adjust my plasma, receiver and source (98% apple tv, 1% oppo, 1% pvr). I don't need anything else. Why overcomplicate it? I could install Crestron and do the same thing....but why?

We don't do small one room systems anyway (never done ProControl, URC, or the like)....so a one off thing that took me 5 minutes to program and worked perfectly after the first upload will be just fine for my wife and I to use.

I don't like that I like the Harmony either. But the stupid thing works perfectly, all the time, and that's really the key at the end isn't it?

This couldn't be more true! It's a serious addiction!

My house is one of those bad wiring racks! LOL I've been meaning to fix it but I simply run out of time every week. I did recently had some time to reprogram my RTI system at home but the rack is a mess. The biggest problem I have is I'm constantly screwing with things which means it's never working 100% of the time or like Monday, I'm grabbing a remote to lend to a customer while theirs is in for repairs. The wifey is never happy with the state of our house!
