This is an AT&T DVR box and I am having a hell of a time learning IR from the factory remote. This is for an Elan g! system so I have only tried all of the relavant codes in the Elan database and learning it in with my GC IR learner. if anyone has the codes for this in pronto hex I would greatly appreciate it. I will be on site tomorrow and try using URC's database to see if I can get a code to work then learn it into g! but having a hex backup would be ideal.

The Uverse boxes work on a different frequency.  They're a pain.   URC with or without  a 350 or 260 will work for you.

Im using Elan g!, so URC is out for control. I can use it to learn it into the g! system controller I hope.

That's what I meant.

I have never had even a hint of a problem with Uverse boxes since they first came out. Yesterday I met a VIP 2250, and it is so bad.

AT&T replaced a VIP 1216 with this new box. It mostly does not register any response, but when it does, there will be repeats or skipped digits. Channel up, channel down is fairly consistent, last channel works almost every time, but the numeric digits either do not work at all or rarely.

I did some searching here, and sorting through it makes it sound as though perhaps a stronger emitter (someone mentioned Xantech) or embedding the emitter might help.

The factory IR remote is of course flawless.

The box does give feedback when a command is sensed. The green LED around the power button will light when it receives a command. I can get it to light fairly regularly with channel up and down or last, but almost not at all with the numeric buttons.

I am using an MX980 with an MRF 300. Adjusting the IR output to maximum gives it more response, but it is never reliable. I tried a new emitter. I tried another MX 980. It is controlling every single component in the system except for this new cable box.

It seems as though the Uverse receiver has very low sensitivity, and perhaps the URC emitter does not have enough output - maybe that is why a different brand emitter, or embedding the emitter fixes it.

I would like to know if there is a repeatable solution. Many thanks!

Does anyone know if IP control works better for these pieces of junk? I am using an MX 990 and MRF 350 with the usual issues. Wondering if I could put in MRX2 in there and control it a different way?

I have no experience with these cable boxes, but I am not fond of the GC learner. I use the RTI learner.
