Any custom installers out there fired by directv ? I was accused of pirating DTV cards which I never did , I got a letter statement saying my commercial & residential
accounts have been terminated. They took all my lifetime residuals away
about $ 180 per month , plus they stiffed me on two new activations about $500.
I heard Directv doesnt want to deal with the small guys anymore , and they just
want to deal direct or with the Best Buy's. I never pirated anything I wrote two letters
and called twice , they returned none of them.

I have since become a Dishnetwork dealer and have alot of fun switching my Directv customers to Dishnetwork, I feel like I did when I left the cable company
bitter in 94 again, it's like the old days I now hate DirecTV and will go out of my
way to make them loose as many customers as possible, the only ones I loose
are the Football package fans otherwise all the DirecTV customers are fair game.

DirecTV are very bad people I busted my ass installing Dishes for the last 10
years ( 1 man business ) and they stab me in the back. They are the only ones
stealing from anyone.

Anybody hear of anything simular happining to them ?

Directv swept their dealer list about 2-3 years ago, prior to their bid to be purchased by Dishnetwork, saying they were only interested in accounts with 25 or more turn-ons a month. Last year they changed their minds again, and I was able to re-sign up.

From the sound of your post, you need to get a lawyer and be prepared to go up against a large corporation. Sorry.

beer,

Have a lawyer or two read the specifics of the contract concerning the payment of residual activations to see if you can gain an angle on getting them back in the event that you win the upcoming civil case DTV has against you. You probably will not be able to gain back being a dealer. My contract basically said they could terminate you at any time without reason! They cost me thousands, but eventually I will cost them hundreds of thousands. Keep up the conversion process...every opportunity you get.

Sounds like you got the letter. DirecTV is finding new ways to increase profit called Corporate Extortion. Yes you are right they are very bad people. They have sent out over 100,000 letters and filed over 22,000 lawsuits with very little or no proof at all. They lie in court, fabricate evidence, sue minors, sue dead people……..

Read and read more and don’ take any crap from them. Hopefully they will get what’s coming to them real soon.

Good Luck

Besides being a total gadget freak, I am an attorney and my firm handles class action lawsuits. If there is a real pattern of misconduct here by Directv and many people affected, there might be a claim.

If there are enough individual small claims my partner who handles this stuff might be interested.

Wasn't there some press release or news item a couple months ago that DirecTV was planning on pulling in all independant installers, and setting up thier own shop to do installs? I had talked to a retailers that was concerned he was going to loose all his residuals as well.
Kind of makes me think they are looking for bogus reasons just to not pay residuals anymore.

Hate Dish and have been with Direct tv for about 4 years now and have some complaints but am SO much happier with DTV than Dish. We are a small firm activating only about a handfull per month. Don't even get me started on Dish!

It'll just take some time, and then you'll hate DirecTV as well.

Read that the dealer agreement you signed (note, it's not really a contract). That thing is so one sided it's rediculous.

The largest dealer in NC was cut off a few years back for no really good reason (other than the fact that the residuals being paid to that firm were around 20K per month).

Go ahead, enjoy being a dealer, but do plan on getting the shaft in the future.

Here in Seattle we've been doing more Comcast Cable Boxes than dishes lately. I don't say that to indicate that I'm advocating it but DirectV and Dish have got to notice that more people are opting for the dishout promo.

Cutting the heads off of some of you doesn't make much sense because its just as easy for you to start recommending cable if you're not getting money for anything!
