Has anyone tried the PS3 Bluetooth to IR adapters with the PS4 yet?

I haven't tried but judging by the fact that you can't use dualshock 3 controllers with the PS4 leads me to believe that it is not compatible.

Nope. That would've cost them $0.15 extra.

doesnt the ps4 have IR? The in depth review I read said that nothing is compatible from one to the other besides the dildo sticks Playstation Move controllers. Camera does not have IR capabilities like the XBX1, etc. I was really hoping that I would want a ps4 but it looks like from the hands-on reviews that people are writing, I will probably just stick with xbox and pick up one in january after the first round of RROD and firmware updates gets settled in.

I think I read somewhere that WB Electronics (who makes the RE-BL X) are working on trying update the firmware on their existing bluetooth to ir adapters to see if they can get them to work with the PS4.
I have the Blu Beam version (same exact piece) in my system but have been to lazy to see if any of the codes work on it with he PS4. Plus I'm still trying to finish up the X-Box codes I posted.
My guess is this wont be completed until Sony releases a new bluetooth remote control.
I did read on a Roomie forum (no I don't hang out there was just searching for any info on ip control) and read that Sony told Roomie that they are planning on "releasing the protocol for third party integration but not at this time". Sound like it might be in the near future, but who knows with Sony...

I also ordered the custom rackshelves for the PS4 and the XBox one yesterday from Middle Atlantic for my system and will post some pics once I get them in.

The only thing I'll say about PS4 (which I own) vs. Xbox One is that Remote Play on the PS4 is awesome.

The PS5, Xbox 720, etc should have a smart touchscreen where the ps4 trackpad currently is. Smart screen as in smart phone screen without the phone that can actively change to a keyboard, background music controller, skype/friend chat interface, etc.
Seeing that you can get an android tablet for less than $50 nowadays and the PS4 already uses bluetooth, it doesnt seem like it would be that to incorporate.

Both the PS4 and Xbox One have "second screen" apps for phones/tablets to allow for this. I have even seen an accessory that holds an iPhone onto the ps4 controller

I emailed Schmartz Tech Support with this question, because I have a customer wanting to upgrade to the PS4. The Schmartz has worked great for me in several installations.
"Gordon:
The currently available information from Sony is that the PS4 has no mechanism to “register” a remote control. The Sony solution for a remote control for the PS3 is the “BD Remote”. The PS4 will not register the BD remote. Schmartz, along with most IR to Bluetooth vendors, depend upon the PS3 facility to “register a remote”. If Sony ever offers support for the PS3 BD remote, our device will work. At this moment Sony does not appear interested in this market.
So the direct answer to your question is, no, the PS3IR-1000 will not work with the PS4."
Bummer huh? Screwed again by manufacturers who just don't seem to care.

People don't but the Razer laptop so they can have a Razer app of their tablet that shows them game information. Having it built in will be slicker, more functional (not having to rely on the network), and a big selling point. I will never use a second screen app for anything other than having a functional keyboard.

They say they want their device to be "the box" hooked up to your TV, a central location for all your home entertainment needs... but then they go and make it as unfriendly to control as possible. I really thought they learned their lesson with the PS3, but then again, I guess all those hardware re-designs without the much-requsted IR being added shows they simply don't care. Even Intel listened. First generation of the NUC had no infrared, but it was fairly ideal as a HTPC. People asked for IR, and guess what - 6 months later when the second generation comes out, there's a built-in CIR receiver. Even added the analog audio that was missing.

Hi all!
I couldn't find any definitive information about the possibility to control the PS4 over TCP/IP. I'd love to control Bluray playback via Pronto, iphone, etc. Can anyone give any info about that?
Thanks alot! Andy
