When I found out that we were going to be carring Klipsh I thought it would be great. Higher end speakers would be nice. We were using JBL and Sonance. I never thought much of JBL, I don't know why, but they sounded good and were the easiest in-ceilings I have ever installed. Sonance is great but I liked SpeakerCraft better. But these Klipsch contractor grade speakers must be the cheapest made speakers out there. I think speco speakers are better constructed. The ears don't pop out very easily, the templet has to be cut out with scissors. I though klipsch was a high end company. Surley there low end speakers should be on par with everyone elses.

Any comments?

I would have to agree with you about Speaker Craft. I won't disparage Klipsch, but you might consider looking for a job elswhere.

Not a fan of Klipsch....don't like the screaching horns.

The cheap stuff is sold through the big box stores...which means the tail is wagging the dog... thus what should have been (and probably was 4-8 yrs ago) a great $250 speaker, now has been stripped down to be an OK $175 speaker.

Just look at anything else that used to be in small dealers only, but is now in Big box....i.e. Infinity, Polk, JBL, BLOSE (ok maybey they always sucked)

God bless the companies that support the small guy. (Paradigm jumps to mind...)

Now, that's good.....

Klipsch used to be a great brand; I sold them for 15 years, met Paul Klipsch on several occasions (he tried to get me drunk), and had great respect for the product and the people. Paul Klipsch sold the company in the mid-nineties to his cousin Fred, and the company changed. It needed to in order to survive, I'm convinced, but Klipsch is not part of my product line today.

I agree with all of you guys, Klipsch used to be good (as far as build quality, I never liked how they sounded), but as soon as they got in bed with big box retailers, and slept with Monster Cable (OOOH AAAH, internal wiring by The Monster) they have gone right down the marketing toilet.

Klipsch has been internally wired with Monster Cable on some products for a long time. I remember seeing a roll of original Monster Cable (MC-500?) in 1984.

I disagree. Sonance is better and easier to install. I did 2 jobs with speakercraft and will never do another. My 2 cents.

For Klipsch - they are in your face bright/harse. Great for cheap loud theater but horrible for music. Another 2 cents

Depends on your market. Klipsch will certainly get you name brand recognition, but with hundreds of speaker choices out there, why sell something that's converted itself into a box moving company?
