I am still learning the business and coming closer to reaching my goals but another thing I would like to know from the pro installers in the industry is,
What's in your toolbox?
What is the custom installers magazine to get the most informative info wether your just learning or a pro?

You're at it! You won't find any better info than a site like this. Where else can you get questions answered within a few hours. (most of the time)

Your absolutely right Mike Teck.
So I guess all I need to ask is
What tools should I have in my toolbox so that I can be prepared for when I start working?

Still looking for answers plus I dont want anyone to forget about this post. Anything will be helpful because I am very serious about a career change plus a job with benefits and growth opportunity so I can learn more about crestron & other products and even become a designer one day with certification from CEDIA. I need a to be with a company where I can feel secure with my future in the NYC area.

After a long hard search I have finally found a company to give me a chance. Today was my first day as a Custom Installer and it was a good first day. I did 3 service jobs and one was to reinstall a plasma so it all went well. Thank you all again and now my post will be about actual jobs and not the hunt.

Hey thats cool. I was going to suggest finding someone like me who owns their CI company and is getitng started and is busy enough to start thinking about adding a dedicated installer so I can start focusing on the business more than the installs. Then you could end up with a type of partnership which would be beneficial.
I am glad you found something that sounds like its working out so far. Some great advice in this thread.
Continued good luck,
E. J.
