Thanks for the input guys
I'm always right. The only time I was wrong was the time that I thought, that I was wrong.

Control4 just added them to their recommended list.....aside from an early serial number range which they just say "may not work". That bit is kind of worrysome actually. I need to call and have them explain more.

Hi Audiophiliac,

I wanted to give you the background information you requested above: Our first release Araknis AN-100 series 16- and 24-port network switches were found to have an issue when connecting C4 audio devices. If the cable was less than 30ft, the signal from the C4 audio device back to the switch port was higher in amplitude than the receiver in the switch port could sense keeping the C4 audio device from connecting. While these are “dumb” switches, we can remotely apply firmware upgrades to solve the sensitivity settings so that the switch port can read the signal coming from C4 audio devices normally at any length. Only units shipped BEFORE January 3rd had this issue and we believe we have worked through these. Units AFTER January 3rd already have the new firmware that corrects this issue.

This was an embarrassing mistake on our part. We have multiple full C4 systems in our labs and in many of our homes. We tested our switches with C4 extensively in these environments and in dealer BETA setups, but obviously without the recently new C4 audio gear. This has been corrected! Test plans have been updated and our labs now have C4 systems with C4 audio gear (and I am converting my home over to C4 audio!).

Can't wait for the routers, AP & POE switches!!!!

Hi BrettLee,

POE versions are in final software regression testing and scheduled to launch before June if not sooner. Who said we are working on routers/APs (wink, wink)?

Snap must be doing something right because "we" are all buying them & I've been seeing the dreaded -Stock Alert & Not Available signs since day 1.

I take the blame on this... Even with all of the surveys we do to understand your needs and to project demand, we simply under estimated the sheer size of the market! Misses like this take 3 months to address to acquire all of the long-lead parts and increase production throughput while maintaining our quality assurance plans. We are back in stock and have taken major corrective actions to avoid such long stock outs in the future.

I posted about needing a switch with rear ports last week and thought about trying the Araknis units but what I needed was out of stock.

Received an email from one of my contacts at SnapAV that saw the post and they got me a unit to try for free.

It's installed and working without issue and I already ordered another unit for another rack at the same job.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the feedback and your support! Enjoy the switch -

I have only just received 2 8 port switches that my rep asked me to try. Only one has been installed so far but it is running a URC Total Control system with various devices (Roku, Sonos, Yamaha AVR) and all is running well at this point.

Thanks G. Paul! I can't tell you how refreshing it is to hear someone say that there were problems and you have/are fixing them!!! Nothing pisses me off more than calling up tech support or a manufacturer and they say I've never experienced that before!!!

We just did our first Keri access control system and had 2 different issues on 4 door controllers. Of course, Keri is solid, never seen that before, must be the installation, etc. So you mean when I swap boards from another controller and it works it's still my fault???

Thanks for being honest! And thanks for working hard to fix any of the issues that have come up! Price is the reason to try Snap but service (tech support, shipping, website) is the reason we stay!
