What's the consensus on running this with let's say 10 - 15 zones of sonos......being an unmanaged switch. Multicasting, Spanning Tree Protocall.....

I can't wait to use Araknis. Snap has never steered me wrong. They put pride into there product. Even if you had a bad switch you can get a brand new one shipped and arrived next day no questions asked. Snap spends a lot of money on product development and engineering. They actually care about us installers, they listen to our wants and needs and develop products for us. Rack mountable with ports in the back, no wall wart? These are money in the bank!

Looking at details, it looks like the only one that's wall mountable is the baby, 5 port switch.

looks like the rack ears can be turned for wall mount on all

I've been using planet switches sucessfully for the last couple of years, but it looks lke they are out of stock in the small switches (at BWD), and I need a couple of them. What is the concensus on the Araknis switches?

I'm always right. The only time I was wrong was the time that I thought, that I was wrong.

We have not used one yet but plan to. Control4 just added them to their recommended list.....aside from an early serial number range which they just say "may not work". That bit is kind of worrysome actually. I need to call and have them explain more.

One of the 10 commandments for CI's should read:

Thou shalt not use unproven product.

Damn, I wish I would of obeyed that long ago.

I have an 8-port in my own rack since day 1, we used a couple of 5-port and 8-port in the field without any issues.

Works great for us.

I like the flexibility of rack-mounting, wall-mounting; fronts port or rear ports.

A couple here and there with no issues. Then again, I don't know the specifics of the jobs we used them on.

Used around 10-13 or so from 5 port to 16 port. Both with rear ports and front ports. All have worked flawlessly from day 1. I have an 8port in my own rack as well as a 16 port in my structured can & a 5 port in my "video game cabinet".

I only wish they made versions for mounting in a scriptures wiring can. Since 90% of the houses we go into all the data drops are in the can.

Can't wait for the routers, AP & POE switches!!!!

Snap must be doing something right because "we" are all buying them & I've been seeing the dreaded -Stock Alert & Not Available signs since day 1. Looks like either....
A) We buy so many it's hard to keep in stock.
Or...
B) China doesn't have enough RJ45 connectors

I've had like 5 shipped to me overnight because they weren't in stock at my warehouse.

its not like snap is making them! they are probably every bit as reliable as any comparably priced switch from netgear, cisco, planet etc. difference being, you can make money, front or rear ports, rack mountable, why wouldnt you use them?

i have 2 or 3 for sub-systems/sub racks and all have been fine. for my core switches i am sold on cisco SG300 high power POE.
I love supporting product that supports me!

I posted about needing a switch with rear ports last week and thought about trying the Araknis units but what I needed was out of stock.

Received an email from one of my contacts at SnapAV that saw the post and they got me a unit to try for free.

It's installed and working without issue and I already ordered another unit for another rack at the same job.
