Customer has a single cat run to each of 3 camera locations. He would like to be able to access camera feeds remotely via a smartphone app but he does not care about recording - no NVR/DVR is required.

Any POE IP cameras that can be viewed with the manufacturer's app without using a NVR? SNAP informed me that an NVR is required for remote viewing.

This home will have a pretty simple control system so I'm not interested in setting any type of extensive remote network. Just want to open up an app like many DVRs use.

I like snap, but seriously? Any ip camera that I know of (maybe not that many) let you change remote ports and once you forward them to the individual ip internal address you can look at them with the same app that you would use for the NVR. You probably won't be able to look at each on on a quad screen on an app but only each one at a time--disconnecting and reconnecting to each as necessary.

Icrealtime, GenIV and other Dahua products would let you do that.

Someone lied to you.
Any IP camera can be viewed over LAN or WAN.
IP stands for Internet Protocol... kind of hard to have an IP camera if it can't use the internet part.

On IOS you can use LiveCams Pro. No smart enough to figure out how to view more than one cam with DDNS though. lol

If you use Axis cameras you can set one camera to "look" at all the others so from one camera page you can view any of the others - saves entering multiple addresses or forwarding a number of ports.

They also support a variety of apps that will allow you to view all or any cams in multiple view configs.

You can set alarms with them, have them email snap shots or video of events, have them trigger door strikes and much more.

Regards,

Snap contacted me directly to ensure that I had accurate information. They were very generous with their info and their offer to make sure I was up to speed. Snap didn't need to do anything - they have excellent customer service. Anyone here ever been contacted by Samsung or Denon? I think not. Thanks Snap.
